This was first posted on my old blog. It should not be a mystery for those of you who wish to explore your modem supplied by Telekom Malaysia.
The default password may not work if you’re living in another country. I’ve had quite a few people asking for the default password so might as well just document this.
Try
(Case sensitive)
Username: ZXDSL
Password: ZXDSL
or
Username: ADSL
Password: expert03
What do you do when you’ve accessed the administration page? Perhaps you wanna configure your ZTE ZXDSL 831 as a router.

I just registered for streamyx recently and I’m using it now. My problem is I do not know how to do port forwarding because base on your instructions, the interface or firmware… I don’t know which is correct, is different than the one that you posted at your port forwarding blog. The NAT is now under Advance instead of NAT service. Can you help me with this please. Probably Telekom has changed the firmware to a new one or so. I don’t know.

You mean like come to your house? The firmware may have been updated but the functions are still the same. Look around. I can’t possibly provide help on every firmware version unless you send me your modem
I got one ZTE ZXDSL 831 mdm myself. I was wondering how can I made this changes “G.DMT/G.LITE/T1.4xx” mode using web base access.

my ZTE ZXDSL 831 was supplied by Telekom. i tried both user/pass thing that you posted but none of them are working. is there any other defaults user/pass for this modem?
I only know of these two. Please note that they’re case sensitive.

vincitore: Hard resetting it will return it to your default ISP settings. Or crack your brain for the password

guys this is the whole story….we have DSL connection at the office with PROLINK dsl aparatus…and i want to have my own connection in my room (to be used when DSL connection at the office is turned OFF, same phoneline connection) i have other DSL aparatus like ZTE XDSL 831, but the problem is when i’m trying to connect all cables it prompts that connection is unplugged…is there anyhing that i need to install for ZTE XDSL before i used it?

edgar: the ZXDSL 831 is a network device and do not need any software.
May I ask … you said the same phone line … is it a parallel phone line connection? If so you need to have proper DSL filter on both lines. Not advisable to have a parallel connection.

recently my household acquired a 5 port switch for internet purpose via the zte zxdsl 831 streamyx modem. the problem is only one pc can access stremyx at one time. anybody outhere can help me out so that more than 1 pc can access the internet at one time. is it a router problem or what?

i try setting the (zte zxdsl 831) modem to be router then i can connect to internet.
but the next day i cant connect to internet.
with normal dail connection also cannot.

well i have just acquired a 831II modem from my isp i tried from 192.168.1.1 after resetting it and the logon dialog appears.. but after having tried with many users and passwords i still have been unable to get into its setup
i have tried with
user:ZXDSL/Admin/admin/user/netadmin/ADSL
pass:ZXDSL/Admin/admin/user/nimdaten/expert03
if you have any other pass i may try i would thank you a lot
btw.. i tried to login to it from telnet and this seems to be de firmware of the modem “ZTE In., Software Release ZXDSL 831IIV5.6.1a_E09_UY”

Juan: Sorry I would have no idea because different ISPs use different username/passwd. You need to check with your local ISP.
hi… im a streamyx user with ZXDSL 831, i want to do portforwarding, but seems i cant access the 192.168.1.1 page with those passwords, i also did hardreset, but still cannot. but there s something i dont understand, in my 192.168.1.1 page, there is no such thing as user id, its just login password, help pls =)
blueleaf: Perhaps you are using a new firmware. I would have no idea but you can always try the default passwords like admin, password,, etc.
all the family of ZXDSL 831 modems from ZTE(ZXDSL 831, ZXDSL 831a, ZXDSL 831c, ZXDSL 831d and ZXDSL 831II) acts both like modem and router, and may even include a Firewall.
To get access to the modem at the IP address 192.168.1.1 to make configurations, you need to set up a fixed IP address in your LAN properties using the same network segment (i.e. 192.168.1.3) wirth the 192.168.1.1 as default gateway, and connect directly to the modem with a network patchcord.
This is crazy .. you are incorrectly leading them .. the Interface is really different in what you are talking about .. we are using ZZXDSL 831 .. and the default username and password is admin and admin
hi guys.. i have an internet connection in mya room, theres another computer in our living room and i want to connect that comuter to the internet too… how can i connect that computer to my zte adsl modem without any switch or hub or router.. i mean you know… its pretty expensive for a student like me, is there any other way… thanks… by the way.. i have a rj45 splitter (like on the phone line) can i use that? ill plug the spliiter to the ethernet port… then with two ports now.. ill connect the two pc… is that possible? thanks again

hi Vlu,
internet connection using DSL is like a network connection. So it doesn work like telephone. If your modem router only got 1 ethernet port, you still need to buy switch or hub to connect xtra pc. I think small hub (4 ports) cost less than RM100 now.

hi guys, I wanna ask u a q.. so I have the root of my ZXDSL 831II mdm (don`t ask) and now I saw that there is another user added in `support` and I need to what is the command that I should use to change the password of that other user, `cause I tried to crack it from the backupsettings.xml (current mdm cfg file) and I almost did, but I still have 3 more symbols and I`m out of ideas. Out of all the comments, Juan’s comments on 22nd April is same as my problem with my ZTE ZXDSL 831 AII router. I could login with login/password admin/admin but could not get the advanced configuration pages which allows you to configure NAT rules/Virtual Server/IP Filter etc. I think the admin login is opening up the configuration settings for ‘user’ rather than for ’superuser’. How can I get back the advanced configuration pages, cos I need to setup port forwarding for HTML, HTTPS, FTP, Telnet etc.? Is a firmware upgrade needed?
