Could blogging spread computer worms?

Could RSS feeds become a conduit for the transmission of computer worms? Security experts are at odds over the possibility. Those who play down the threat point to the fact that no virus has ever used the propagation technique while others say it’s only when a network reaches critical mass (as in the case of instant message and file sharing networks) that malware threats show their ugly head.

Personal firewall firm Zone Labs describes RSS feeds (together with mobile phones and PDAs) as the “next battleground in security”. Gregor Freund, chief exec and co-founder of the Check Point Software subsidiary, said RSS feeds are a potential threat because whenever you have unstructured or unfiltered data you can end up with viruses. He added that Zone Labs had spotted malicious behaviour over RSS feeds but wasn’t able to supply any details on what this malfeasance might be.

This looks very interesting and very possible. To me it’s a definate.

Xmail Hard Drive

Sometime back on my old blog, I posted about GMail Drive. It’s a windows client which enables you to mount your Gmail account as a drive on your computer.

Now there’s a web based client called Xmail Hard Drive. I’m not too sure about it’s security though. Should be pretty safe if you encrypt your data before you upload them.

Firefox 1.0.5 up for grabs

FlyakiteOSX on my desktop

My desktop
Here’s a shot of my current desktop with FlyakiteOSX v2.0 installed. On this new version, you will be given a choice of either RK Launcher or ObjectDock as your dock shortcut.

FlyakiteOSX is a transformation pack. It will transform the look of an ordinary Windows XP system to resemble the look of Mac OS X. The installer simply automates the process of replacing critical system files, setting registry tweaks, and installing extras such as cursors, sounds, visual styles, etc.

Try it out!

London bridge is falling down

Nah … got you there.

I’ve just reinstalled my notebook. Been planning to do that for about half a year and finally it’s done now. I just couldn’t stand it’s ultra sluggish performance anymore.

On my Linux partition, I will be testing Ubuntu. Been using Slackware all this while and thought it’d be good to check out the hottest Linux distro.

Freedom of religion?

Ayah Pin of Sky Kingdom is wanted but the authorities are unable to capture the man. His commune was raided by Religious Department officers on Saturday but the man himself eluded arrest. Twenty-one of his followers, including a police inspector and the drummer of rock group Def Gab-C, were arrested.

I saw them coming; they did not see me. Can I be faulted for this?

This sect reminds me of a religion in Vietnam called Cao Dai. This religion was created during the hard times of war. It comprises beliefs from different religions. I truly think this is cool because I’m really against religions which condemn others and those who think they are the only ones going to heaven.

Go to hell if you don't accept Jesus ... bullshit

Well … at least I’ve got Mary greet me when I got home :)
