TCPView - detect TCP and UDP endpoints on your system

TCPView
TCPView is a GUI netstat on steroids. It’s also a great tool for you to learn the basics of TCP/IP.

If you want to study a particular network application, TCPView shows exactly which port it’s using and where it’s connecting to. With all those information on hand, it’s easy to customize your firewall rules.

Hackers/Crackers at work?

Hackers/Crackers at work
Sorry for the crappy image quality shot from my el cheapo phone from inside my car with my tinted window up.

I couldn’t help but to notice this particular car when I was walking to the Select Store to buy myself a pack of ciggys. Mounted on the roof of the car is a wireless antenna and a GPS receiver. The driver was on his seat and I saw a notebook on the passenger side seat. There were also 2 clamtype cellphone mounted on the dashboard of the car.

Track your toilet from the web

This guy is awesome. He’s got his whole home all wired to the net.

Do you want to know how many times he flushed his toilet? How much energy, gas and water he’s using? Perhaps listen to his answering machine. Or check out who’s at his door.

I guess the only thing he’s not showing publicly is his hydroponic garden(kidding). But who knows … it’s Holland! Show us your bud farm man!

WRTSL54GS Media Storage Link Router

For those of you wishing for a USB connection for your wireless router, look no more than the WRTSL54GS.

The WRTSL54GS enables you to connect any USB device to it to expand the functionality of the wireless router.

If you plan to use a hacked firmware on it, you would need some storage space for your files. Just stick a USB drive on it and you’ll have almost unlimited storage for the WRTSL54GS.

I’ll just have to wait till I get my hands on this one :)

WRT54G v5 not compatible with 3rd party firmwares

It’s been reported at LinksysInfo that WRT54G v5 is not compatible with 3rd party firmwares. The problem lies on the amount of RAM and the OS is VxWorks instead of Linux.

If you want to use 3rd Party Firmwares, DO NOT BUY A WRT54G v5.

Known serial numbers (first 4 characters) vs versions / Chipsets:

CDF0 = WRT54G v1.0 / ADM6996L Chipset
CDF1 = WRT54G v1.0 / ADM6996L Chipset
CDF2 = WRT54G v1.1 / ADM6996L Chipset
CDF3 = WRT54G v1.1 / ADM6996L Chipset
CDF5 = WRT54G v2.0 / ADM6996L Chipset
CDF7 = WRT54G v2.2 / BCM5325EKQM Chipset
CDF8 = WRT54G v3.0 / BCM5325EKQM Chipset
CDF9 = WRT53G v3.1 / BCM5325EKQM Chipset
CDFA = WRT54G v4.0 / BCM5352E Chipset

CDFB = WRT54G v5.0 / BCM5352EKPB Chipset <- Stay away from this one.
