The government should ban the use of mist fans at all eating outlets. As much as the majority of people who love it, many do not realise the health risks presented by these fans.

I was at a local food court yesterday and there was one right in front of my table and blasting mist right on my face and obviously my food. I never liked mist fans except when they’re used correctly during outdoor events when it’s scorching hot.

Just think of it. Where does the water source come from? Obviously from the water pipe. To add to that, those fans are usually covered with thick dark colored dust. When the mist travels in the air, it would definitely capture any dust and dirt in the air and land them into your food.

Now if someone were to sneeze or cough in the path of the mist, I don’t need to tell you where bits and pieces of someone elses mucus will land up. It’s the carrier of all air and water borne diseases.

Stop the use of mist fans at all eating outlets. Let the owner know about your concern. Hell … even complain to the health ministry.
