My sure win pick on the World Cup finals

It’s down to France and Italy for the the World Cup finals this Sunday. Who will grab the cup? I’ve done extensive analysis on both teams and will reveal a sure win pick at the end of this post.

France defeated Portugal in Munich with a 33rd-minute penalty kick by veteran playmaker Zinedine Zidane. The penalty was awarded after a foul by defender Ricardo Carvalho on striker Thierry Henry inside the area. Zidane found the net with a low right-footed shot past goalkeeper Ricardo Pereira.

France made Zidane’s goal stand up in the second half despite some late pressure by Portugal, which was looking to make its first appearance in the World Cup final. Portugal’s best chances came in the first half off the boot of Deco and Maniche, the latter’s shot going centimetres over the bar.

On the other note, Jurgen Klinsmann’s World Cup dream was destroyed by two Italy goals at the end of extra-time as Fabio Grosso and Alessandro Del Piero both struck to secure a place in the final. Italy had dominated the game and struck the post and bar in the first two minutes of extra time before Grosso broke the deadlock in the 119th minute.

Substitute Del Piero wrapped it up in the final minute. Marcello Lippi’s team celebrated on the pitch as the whole of Germany sank to their knees.

Italy, three-times World Cup winners go into their sixth final and play France in Berlin on Sunday.

So, what my pick? To make sure you win, don’t bet. Either way the game goes, you’ll either lose or win with odds deducted by the bookie. Splurge your money on a hefty and expensive meal with your loved ones. You’ll be a sure winner if you follow my pick (Sorry for the anti climax) :P
