Am I an atheist?
I just filled in a form which states my religion as “No Religion”. So am I considered an atheist?
An atheist is a person who denies the existence of god. I do believe in a universal God but not religion. I feel that religions are man made and it’s faiths, believes and customs are the results of human interpretation. We all know the consequences of misinterpretation.
Do not think I have no respect for religions. I believe everyone has their right of choice. It’s only despicable when they force/cheat someone into it or badmouth other religions. I would not believe anyone’s God would approve of that.
So what do you call a person who believes in God but not in religion?
A free man who is not bound by dogmatic organised religion.
If you have to label yourself the closest I can think of would be you are an agnostic, who does not deny the existence of god but is sceptic towards religions.
if you believe in the existence of god, you are not an atheist.
since you believe in god, but not any particular god (i.e. u don’t know which god, apart from the term universal god) then you are an agnostic theist.
How about you call yourself as “free thinker”. You believe in god but

I guess you’re a free thinker, not an atheist. I believe in Islam, but I disapprove of all those misinterpretations of Islam.
It’s all a matter of perspective. You believe that not having a religion is being free. I believe that Islam is a religion that makes humans free, not the blasphemised version practised by terrorists and extremists. Therefore, to me, you’re like a Muslim, and to you, I’m like a free thinker.
I think if people saw things that way, instead of putting labels on everyone, life will be much more peaceful.
the correct term probably “agnostic” — to believe there is GOD.. but don’t give a fcuk.

this is america.i think there has to be a better word than AGNOSTIC.it leaves(just like organized religion )to much to personal interpetation.i mean come on guy”s we have the whole american language as well as “the king”s english”there has to be something to define.i’ll keep on searching .AGNOSTIC just won”t suffice.how about monotheism?a free thinker sounds like some kind of hippie type hop head expanding his “realm’,this i am not.
After searching high and low, I believe the correct term for me would be a “Deist”.

i say the correct term would be IRRELIGIOUS.according to websters dictionary it means “to be not religious.adhering to no particular religious belief.indifferent or hostile towardsreligion.not in accord with religious principles.profane,impious”.it explains it all.comments welcome.

I want other to respect me therefore I respect other religions.
we are not talking about respect here we’re all humans and as an enalienable right bestowed upon us by the constitution must respect one’s personal beliefs.that’s a given.we’re talking about personal religious beliefs and it’s relationship to (or the lack of)spirituality.

Do you believe in Jesus? Christianity is a not a religion. It is a relationship between God and man.
I’m a deist.
I definately do not believe in Jesus but I respect any religion if they don’t go overboard.
Frankly I don’t think you need a name and church to define a relationship between God and man

I am not Muslim. I do not submit to one or any god. My god is in my head. My brain.

Believe doesn’t mean submitting to me. Your universal god is not the same as my universal god.
My universal god do not have a face, name, color, religion, deciples, prophets, angels, holy books, teachings, etc.

anyway, to submit is not to “worship”, I don’t know what u understand with the word “submit”,but for me..what I understand by the word “submit” is to “accept” or believe or confess that there is a god..So, what u understand by universal god?
Ohya, god is not something that you can tell by words or explain in logic…nobody knows what god exactly is and will never know or be able to explain about it…because god is there…god is everywhere and god is everything from what we can think of and what we can’t think of but it is only one…color etc..is what produced by the chemical in our brain..we call something as “red” because it is “red” for us..but. is it true that what we see is “red” and what is “red” anyway…it is the same thing when we ask what is “reality” and is this world or what we are seeing is “reality” or just like when we watch the tv..everything looks so real..but the truth is..its just a game of light..
you see, its like asking who created god..you will never get the answer..coz if it can be created..then it is not god…So, if we say that nobody creates god, human mind will find it is hard to accept…coz our mind is too used to what we call as “logic”…
So, why are we here..and who we are..should be the questions that we must always ask..whats the meaning of “existense”…anyway, no worries..if you keep on asking questions and look for the answer…one day you will find the answer…its not that I am trying to say that you will know “what is god” coz it is something that we will never know coz only god knows…but atleast you will understand what this life is and our relation with god and what I meant with “we are the reflection of god” and god is everything but one…and about religion, its nothing more than “man Made”..

everyone have their version of god and nobody is right or wrong. As I already said, your universal god is not the same as mine. It is not right to assume it is because it isn’t.
